LINEBACKER TACKLING SCHOOL RECORD.(Sports)

The Brockport State University football record book will soon have a new look to it, and the name Steve Cook figures to be a regular entry.

Cook, a junior from Ballston Spa, is close to setting a new single-season record for tackles for the Eagles. And with one year of eligibility remaining, he should break the career mark for tackles.

Through seven games, Cook has 107 tackles (57 unassisted) from his inside linebacker position for an average of 15.3 a game. With three games left, he is on a pace that will break the record of 150 tackles set by Blase Salomone in 1988. He needs nine more unassisted tackles to break …
