NSW: Lewthwaite cries foul in open letter
Convicted child killer JOHN LEWTHWAITE describes new charges against him as absurd
.. in an open letter published on the website of the New South Wales Council for Civil
Liberties.
He fears pre-election politics may be responsible for him being kept in jail.
Last week police charged the 51-year-old with exposing himself to two women in Sydney's
south in January.
LEWTHWAITE says the timing of the charge is very suspicious .. a way of keeping him in jail.
He says police would have charged him closer to the time of the alleged crime if they
truly considered him responsible .. rather than the week before a State Parole Authority
hearing on whether he should be released into the community.
