Fed: Former diplomat calls for investigation into Al Masri death

A retired diplomat has called for a full investigation into the immigration department
over the death in Gaza of a Palestinian refugee deported from Australia.

BRUCE HAIGH has attacked the department and Immigration Minister CHRIS EVANS over the
death of AKRAM AL MASRI .. who was killed two days ago in the Gaza Strip.

Mr HAIGH says the department is responsible .. because Mr AL MASRI was deported six years ago.

The department is investigating Mr AL MASRI'S death .. but says even if a person has
spent time in Australia .. this does not mean the country is responsible for all events
that happen after the person leaves.

However .. Mr HAIGH accuses the department of continuing the politicies of the former
Howard government.
