Vic: Bracks says Labor won t campaign yet after MP s death
Victorian Labor Premier STEVE BRACKS says it's inappropriate for the ALP to start campaigning
in the electorate of Liberal MP PETER NUGENT, who died on Tuesday.
Mr BRACKS has rejected claims that Labor has issued glossy brochures in the federal
seat of Aston in Melbourne's east, just days after Mr NUGENT's death from an apparent
heart attack.
He says the Labor Party in Victoria has made a deliberate decision not to campaign
in the seat of Aston, out of respect for Mr Nugent.
Mr NUGENT's death means the federal government could face another difficult by-election,
with Labor needing a swing of about 8.5 per cent to win.
The funeral for Mr NUGENT will be held on Monday.
